During a recent conversation with Bruce Springsteen for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians series, Zach Bryan disclosed that he still has a hard time thinking of himself as a real musician. Springsteen asked him when he first started considering himself a “serious songwriter,” and Bryan admitted that he still doesn’t. “To this day I have really bad imposter syndrome,” he said. “I’d go home and I would write, and I never in a million years thought I would become a songwriter because I never thought I had the talent.” Bryan dismissed his own songs in comparison to other music legends, saying “There’s no way people enjoy these like they would enjoy a [Bob] Dylan song or a Springsteen song.” Springsteen went on to praise Bryan’s tunes “Open the Gate” and “Revival,” calling them, “songs you’re gonna be singing till you’re old as me.” (People)
