A Chilean Pearl Jam fan named Carlos traveled over 7,000 miles to see the band play shows in Barcelona recently. But PJ’s performances over the course of their two-night stand wasn’t the only thing that made the experience memorable for Carlos and all the other fans in attendance. Carlos brought a handwritten sign with him that read, “Pls let me play Y.Ledbetter on guitar. P.S. hope u liked the Chilean wine.” Frontman Eddie Vedder saw the sign at their first show, and signed it for Carlos, writing, “Keep playing” on it. When Carlos returned with the sign for night two, Vedder saw him late in the show, and asked, “You really know how to play guitar?” Vedder invited Carlos on stage for the show closer, “Yellow Ledbetter,” and the young PJ fan nailed the iconic opening riff of the song and shredded along with the band while bringing the concert to a special end for the band and fans alike.
